Lunch was good, but it needed something else… Dessert!
I headed down to the Falafel House to pick up some sweet Baklava. I’ve been eating alot of them as of late. I also think that these little syrup soaked pastries are giving me a toothache.
Baklavas come in a variety of shapes, like squares, triangles, diamonds, rolls and round pies. I picked up a pie and a square one and headed back to work.
“Here’s your Baklava Bri.”
“Why’s your piece so much bigger than mine?”
“I dunno, but they all cost the same. Kinda sucks eh? Maybe we should just get the big ones all the time. Maybe there’s something weird inside the big ones”
“Like what?”
I couldn’t even think of something cleverly weird that could be inside a Baklava. I don’t even know what’s in a Baklava to begin with.
But there was something weird inside. Something I never would have expected…
A BIG HOLE.
AIR.
NOTHINGNESS!
The big pastry was hollow inside! Its size allured me into its purchase, but all I bought was sweet pastry covered air!
“Oh man, a hole? That sucks” he says enjoying another bite of his delicious, thick but small Baklava.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Next time I’ll take a diamond slice!
